This week we read Train to Somewhere, which tells the story of New York City orphans who were taken West to find homes from the 1850's to the 1920's. While the characters in Train to Somewhere are fictional, the Orphan Train was very real. Students are now researching the real Orphan Train and its riders.

My favorite Eve Bunting book was Train to Somewhere. It is about children who get on train, and stop in different places to get adopted. It was a very sad story, with feelings.
Eve bunting uses birds in her story to repentant something. In her story
It represented a feather that her mom gave her before she left. Throughout the story she is looking for her mom, but on the last stop somebody adopted her. She was nice the girl felt good, so she gave the feather to her and that was the end. It reminded me of birds and that was a text to self
My favorite Eve Bunting book is Train to Somewhere. I love this book, because it made me think of being an orphan. I recommend this book to orphans, because they all need hope
My favorite Eve Bunting book was Rudi’s Pond, because it is about a girl that lost here best friend. This story made me do texts to self, because one time I lost my best friend in a hospital. I like Eve Bunting books, because she uses a lot of birds in her story to explain the storys she has wrighten.
My favorite book of Eve Bunting is Train to Somewhere. I like it because it tells me how orphans lived. Another thing why I like it is because its sad, nice, sweet, kind and beautiful. I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH!
My favorite book of Eve Bunting’s is someday a tree, and
The man who can call down owls. They are just such great books and I love how Eve, uses birds in all her books.
They are beautiful. It reminds me of seasons changing
Because in one book it is summer in the other book
It is winter. That’s what it reminds me of.
My favorite Eve Bunting book has to be Fly Away Home. It’s about a boy and his farther. They live at an airport because they have no place to live. They live with these people that are just like them. They all try not to get caught from security. There very poor. The dad cry’s because he thinks they will stay there forever. All the boy wishes is to have freedom. The reason I love this book is because I love sad stories. Only if it was real I would feel bad .
My favorite Eve Bunting book is Trouble on the T-Ball team.It starts out with a girl named Linda, whos team mysteriously keeps losing things.Soon Linda feels left-out of the dodgers team because everyone lost one except Linda.Later it is the last game and the last inning.Linda soon looses atooth and does not feel so left-out of the team.It reminded me of the time I lost my tooth in football

Ms.Rogers can u tell us your Eve Bunting book?Is it The Wall or Fly Away Home or its another book.
Great question, Leyah! I forgot to mention my favorite Eve Bunting book. My favorite is The Wall, the story of a young boy and his father exploring the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in search of the boy's grandfather's name. The story reminds me of the importance of family in our lives. It also reminds me of how lucky we are to live in a country where we are free, thanks to the brave men and women who fight for us in the armed services.
The Wall has wonderful illustrations by Ronald Himler, who illustrates many of Bunting's more serious books. I felt like I was there, in Washington, D.C. with the characters. The pictures make you feel the coolness in the air, and the sadness of the day. It definitely reminded me of my trip to Washington, D.C. when I was in 5th grade. (But it was July when I went, and MUCH hotter, more like a Texas Summer!)
